Am I the only fool who chose the pistol over the blunderbuss? Ive found no good use for the pistol ive 20 bullets on me and the max 99 in stoage, I have to fire it repeatedly for any damage and it doesn’t seam to have any knock back effect at all, I do have another 3 shards should I upgrad it or save up another 2 shards to upgrad my blade weapon?

I don't know if you knew but the weapons in your left hand can stagger them. You have to fire just as its attacking and get close to it then you press R1 and it will do a visceral attack which does alot of damage. A backstab attack from behind can also stagger. When you stagger something you will get a audio cue. I would recommend upgrading your main weapon first as you'll be using it the most until you come to a farming spot for blood stone shards. The torch is useful against certain enemies and in a particular area. I won't say much more than that. I have found this character simulator. It can be useful for seeing where to put your points in the build your making. link

I've got the second upgrade to my main weapon now and can confirm the werewolves on the bridge do drop blood shards, also the hunchbacks above the sewers. I ment stagger when I said knock back, I must be getting my timing wrong as I've not noticed any audio cue. I'll have a practice later with some easy meat.

I've gone and ordered the big hardback guide that's out in a couple of days. I've still only done one boss but I think my save game is right near the next one and I expect to need all the help I can get before I get much further, so I don't mind forking out. It's over 500 pages and release has been delayed to make sure it's as up to date as possible. I expect to spend a lot of time with this game - it's really only after a few hours that you begin to see where all the rave reviews come from.

Have just done second boss at level 24 it took a few goes, What do I do with the red jewell hand it to the girl or use it for a weapon gem?
I have used some internet guides for some help, I would never have got the musical box if I hadn't, but Im trying not to rely on them part of the enjoyment of the first few hours was not knowing what the hell I was doing.

Once you activated a certain shortcut you can run and dodge to the second boss quite easily.

I got the music box a while ago, and I'm saved just before the only area I can find that I haven't been into yet. There's a pile of warnings there so there's got to be something nasty ahead! Would have gone on but it was late.

That's the beauty of these games. It makes you make moral choices and judgments. In this case I will not say what is best to do so I won't spoil it for you. That's up to you. You can keep it but is it morally the right thing to do. If you give the brooch to her you may get something out of it.

Anyone know what would happen if I select the 'new game' option rather than 'continue'? I'd like to try a different class and weapon but don't want to do it if it just overwrites my current save. Is it possible to have more than one game save in progress?

Yes you can create as many as you want I think. I have made another 2 characters myself. The character creator is fun to mess with its a game in itself. I've modelled my main character as Sepiroth. A final fantasy 7 character if you didnt know. Theres a weapon in the game that will be perfect for him. If your going to create a female character theres a female outfit to find for her or him if your into that sort of thing.
