Don't know if this is the right place or not, but I was after some advice on AV recievers. I have an aging Onkyo Tx300 or something like that and its definitely beginning to creak. I fancy upgrading at some point in the next six months and wondered if anyone had any recommendations? I'm not too bothered about things like Airplay - I just want good sound where the vocals are not drowned out by msic and/or explosions or where your finger is constantly on the volume button.
Cheers

5 or so years ago I was in the know as I used to sell and install AV equipment, things have moved on so much in that time I am clueless now I am afraid.
I am interested as well for recommendations though as may want an upgrade in the future (got a very ageing 5.1 separate processor and amp).

Cheers If your vocals are drowned out mate then your speaker levels/distances are wrong. If you want all level volume check your dynamic range compression settings.Off for real sound.Yamaha do excellent receivers for cinema and music,It will depend on your budget Do you need 4k etc?All new higher end receivers have 4k upscaling etc.

If you are using a Yamaha receiver do use straight or pure direct mode as that will give you sound as intended without any processing shit.

Cheers Flur. Will look at Yamaha. Don't have a 4K TV, so that's not needed. I have checked the speaker levels/distances and they all seem fine, but then I'm not sure of the finer settings. I've checked the manual and it all seems right. Linear PCM is the output for PS4 right?
