For flight controls I'm using a Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas X affordable but adequate. I would love a warthog joystick and throttle which is a replica of real controls but at 270 its too much justify. For headlook I'm using a EDTracker also affordable and you can build it yourself if you have soldering skills. For voice control I'm using Voice Attack with a free voice pack KICS you can have conversations with your ships computer. Thanks to joshfiskins link for the t-flight bindings I have been setting up my joystick to have all controls on it without ever touching the keyboard. The shift idea or using more than one button to do a function allows you to basically have more buttons on the t-flight. I wish I knew this when I got it. I am using this Reference sheet generator to create my own printouts for my own bindings. Very handy. Michael I will post mine it up here later and you can try my bindings. I'm trying to make the bindings more instinctive.

Fire groups? How does that work. weapons , point defence chaff are they all user controlled or automatically deployed. The shift button on the thrustmaster how does that work is it pressed once then controls are in a different mode or depressed? Fire groups are in the right hand UI. You can set weapons and utilities to primary fire (1) or secondary fire (2). It will tell you to set them every time you change your ships loadout. Chaff has a dedicated button to deploy it and point defence is automatic against missiles. Shift is like on your keyboard. Press two buttons for one function. This allows you to set more functions to the same button. I have set my t-flight bindings and I think they are intuitive and easy to remember. I wanted to use only one shift modifier button but it was not possible. The second shift button has only a fewer binding on it though so not too complicated. I have tested them in combat, general flying and landing and they are easy to use. The SRV driving and turret controls i'm very pleased with. It makes the driving good enough not to use a game controller. You can aim the turret with the joystick or the mouse. Here are my bindings reference sheet and bindings file links. You only need to download once from the space flight link. Try it out and feel free to adjust the bindings if you can't get on with them. Ignore the misconfiguration warning. You can save and print the generated image on those links, Right click and save image as. Make your own sheet from this link , It supports a few other hotas joysticks too. Space flight controls SRV driving controlsDownload the binds file at the bottom of the webpage, Right click and save link as. Copy it into "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings" You will have to rename the binds file you downloaded to "Smeggers T-Flight bindings.1.8.binds" and backup the custom ones just in case. Choose my preset in [Options>Controls] Tips on how to use this setup. 1. Press and hold the modifier shift buttons before pressing the corresponding button or hat switch. 2. When in supercruise and approaching stations and planets, press Modifier 1 and Three quarter throttle so you are at the right speed for approach. 3. Use the maneuvering thrusters on the hat switch for an easier controlled landing and during combat to loop behind enemies. 4. Chaff and shield cell is on a dedicated button binding so you don't need to set it in a fire group. 5. Set the home button to green.
