From a Reddit post today, might be useful for some. link"So I posted this in an answer to someone elses question, but I think not a lot of people know this. So I copy/paste my tip here too! " Here's a great tip. You can actually use the built-in mic from the PSVR headset to listen to the outside world! So the one who is playing, hears sound from outside VR through the mic and into the headset. Kinda like active reverse noise canceling. It's somewhere hidden in the settings! It helps you if you want to be alert of your surroundings without putting the sound very low or removing the headset. Very handy if you have over-ear headsets or in-ear. Edit: settings as someone in the comments pointed out. I was not at home when I wrote this at the time, so added it in now! Settings>Devices>Audio Devices>Sidetone Once you turn Sidetone on, by holding down the Mute button for at least 2 seconds you can cycle through the sidetone modes: One short beep: Sidetone low Two short beeps: Sidetone high One long beep: Sidetone off

I might look at that. I've only used the supplied plugs so far - which sound great, unless you're playing DriveClub, in which all cars now sound like a sewing machine wrapped in a fluffy sock. I don't like being cut off from the world though. I tend to shit myself when the cat jumps up on my lap.

Not sure about it, will give it a go and if it does not impact my game too much I might make use of it....

My Sony headset does that exactly the same way by holding down the mute button, works very well as it helps to hear your own voice coming through the headset….. But it can be very disconcerting when your young daughter creeps up behind you and starts talking, actually it picks up all conversation in the room to the point I end up muting it again.
Adam, unless your cat has hobnail paws or gives a curtesy Meow! before jumping on you it’s not going to help.

Adam, unless your cat has hobnail paws or gives a curtesy Meow! before jumping on you it’s not going to help. Well he does always announce himself as it happens, and since he doesn't have his claws trimmed I normally always hear him coming up the stairs. I was in some cockpit game the other day and felt him jump up. It was weird looking down and not seeing a virtual cat in my lap.

pitty you cant attach a light colar so the camera can track him I've just realised why I might be having tracking problems. He was obviously behind me waving lights around. I always wondered why he carried that torch.
