No, I don't know what's going to be in it either. But this announcement suggests it's more than the patches released in the weeks after release. It's got bases in it, and that's as much as they're saying. I'm not sure how building a base will affect a game designed so that you won't want to visit the same planet twice, but there you go.

Would be good if you could find and use abandoned baces, then again the chances of finding one are quite remote.

Its too little too late I'm sad to say. I enjoyed the game up to a point even with the missing features but the constant crashing was what got to me so I got rid for my sanity. From what I've seen base building is a fine addition but like others have said the game is about exploration. Why would you build a home and stay on the planet? It would get boring eventually. The games in two minds with a survival mode and build mode. Its frankly a mess of a game and I don't think Hello games can salvage it as the player base have moved on. Such a shame.

Well, they've said it's the first of many updates, and this one does add quite a bit, so the game may well end up (eventually) being quite a different kettle of space-fish.
I've only had a quick look at the new version so can't comment about too much, but you can build a base then hire aliens to staff it, so possibly don't actually need to visit it again. But if you do you could just beam yerself over as it's got teleports now. And since you can craft automatic mining machines now, I suppose you could have nice little earners running in the background and never have to visit planets twice. I think you can even buy and staff monster freighters now.
I see what you mean though, I don't know if I've moved on or not yet, and won't decide till I spend more time with it. But this update is definitely promising.

Would be good if you could find and use abandoned baces, then again the chances of finding one are quite remote. You can claim planets now, so there may be consequences if you land on someone else's (which should be easy for Hello to manage, I'm sure they could 'steer' players into certain areas). Now there's a thought, I think I can see what they're up to... I'm building a stack of hotels when I get home!

Shame I sold my copy ages ago and deleted saves along with the Division to gain space. So I guess its no going back. Somewhere I have a load of planets with stupid childish names like "can I have a refund" and " NMS you Sux" the list went on.
