Had a walk around Curry's, yes the oled TV's where very nice but are they really worth £1200 above an equivalent 55" 4k HDR?
For £500 they had very nice looking TV's running a Tomb Reader demo amongst other things still a massive step up from the 32" HD I'm currently running.
It wasn't long ago that any 4k TV was demanding four figure prices, is oled just today's fad to be replaced by something else tomorrow?
I also noticed the expensive ones all seamed to feature 3d is there any point in 3d I thought the 3d gogles weren't very popular?

I am waiting for OLED technology to be available from all major suppliers. They are great TVs but apparently can suffer from image retention. Not ideal for a gaming setup.

Thanks Paul that's good advice, are there any features I should look out for regarding gaming on a 4k telly?

my current 65" led tv has a 10 bit panel and dynamic backlight etc bloody expensive but i think the best image quality led you can but right now. the most responsive are samsung at the moment... the way i see it is you buy what you want then forget about the price.. if you constantly wait for price drops you never actually buy anything

Cheers for the advice that will save me a few quid as I thought oled was the way to go, I need to do a bit of room rearranging but I have the green light the misses is even asking how soon can get one.

Doesn't an enthusiastic missus mean you just sit round waiting for Coronation Street to finish? You'd better check exactly what she said. She might have actually just given you permission to buy a coloured light bulb.

I've hovered over the buy button for a 4k more than once. The main thing stopping me is that it would be primarily for film viewing. I'm less bothered - not at all, in fact - about 4k for games. But since 4k discs (I'm one of the sensible ones who still buys discs) will not replace blu-ray in exactly the same way that blu-ray completely failed to replace the DVD format, there's really no hurry to replace the telly I currently have.

Well the only real improvement would be a visual one.So it depends on how much you value seeing a film/game at the highest possible quality.I thought my old 50inch plasma had a perfect picture, but technology has moved on so quickly. In reality it cannot even come close to a good quality 4k tv.

I have the OLED tv downstairs for me and the mrs.My gaming tv is a Samsung KS8000 which is a really belting tv, but in comparison to the LG55E6 it is a total mismatch. The colour, blacks, contrast, every detail is perfect.I have waited along time to pick up an OLED tv and now I am over the moon,I can be a right picky bastard because I want perfection in everything(which is a dreadful trait). But this is as good as it gets mate.Go look at some tv's and see which one you get drawn to and I can say with 99% certainty it will be an OLED.

They are not cheap Chris mate, but you will have a smile on your face every time you see it.I got my 55E6 for £2049.Which is £1450 off RRP.

Thanks Paul, Let me know how it is with gaming compared to the ks8000, coz i believe the LG has slightly higher response not that an old fart like me would notice.
