Anybody looking forward to this one? I was a Shin Megami Tensei games fan on the old PS2. Demon hunting turn based JRPG's. Persona is a spin-off of those games. 3 and 4 were great games. Currently one the highest scoring jrpg game equaling chrono cross and FF9 on metacritic at 94 and third all time PS4 game, only GTA5 and The last of us scored higher. This is goty material. Anybody thinking about getting it, this is a good watch. If you want to know more read this wiki. Its got some spoilers though.

Keith - It looks like the one to start with considering its the best of the 5. You should play 3 and 4 as well. The same dark demonic story line in those but I'd say 4 is more lighter and 3 is the darker of the two. 1 and 2 are dated now PS1 graphics but are still good to play on a emulator especially 2. One of the mechanics of those first two games, demon negotiation is back in 5 and it will give it more varied gameplay. You talk to the demon to join you. A list of all the DLC on this link and link with pictures of costume sets. I count 10 bits of free dlc that includes the japanese voice track and 4 costume sets that release over a 3 month period. The free costumes sets are regular clothes & school uniform, swimsuit, maid & butler and christmas set. Its great that they are giving free dlc even if some of it should already be included in the price.

I played P4 Golden on the Vita. It was certainly addictive but I stopped when I got to a point (quite suddenly) where I just found the battles tiresome. That was many hours in though, I had my money's worth and then some. I can't get anything new to play right now though, and of course would only play this as long as I don't have to endure a ghastly American dub. And just so we're clear - no matter how professional or well done it is, any American dub on top of a game as Japanese as this, is ghastly.

To be fair the voice acting was ok in the third game. I wasn't too keen on the voices in P4. I had no choice in those PS2 versions. Thankfully the new game has Japanese voices on release day as a download. That was one of the reasons for the delay. I know what you mean about the battles being grindy in P4 but you couldn't beat the bosses unless you did. The new game has done away with the random dungeons design and gone with crafted area's but you can still grind in a random dungeon thats optional if you want.

My copy came this morning which was a surprise. My first impressions are well lets just say after I put the disc in and started the game I was looking at the start game screen and I was grinning like a fool. I've been waiting 8 years for a new Persona game. The game is a work of art even the start game screens are stylish. I've only played the opening battle tutorial before I had to go out but I knew then that I am going to thoroughly enjoy playing this game as I couldn't wait to get back to it. Japanese audio track is 2.9Gb to download and the other 3 free dlc includes the merciless difficulty and in game items. The PS4 won't let you record or take screenshots sadly but another capture device can. You can record the battle tutorial though which I've uploaded to our Youtube. No spoilers in the video. If your interested in the steelbook case you can get in the first editions. Here are a few pics. Nothing more to say than that its a very nicely made case.

I'm a couple of hours in on the game clock, and it's taken me a few sessions to get that far. Lawks a lawdy, they do like to talk. More than anything else so far I've been pressing X to advance the dialogues. I actually fell asleep at one point while playing, and I don't think I've done that since I woke up in the 90s running in a corner in Phantasy Star Online. I was a bit pissed then though.
I know it'll pick up, but still. Yak yak yak yakkity yak. And another thing - I know they're mostly very very short, but there's a loading screen about every ten seconds.
It's awfy cool, though. Immensely well put together and looks tremendous - in a sort of 'superb art design and bollocks to you 4k whores' sort of way.

There is a hell of a lot of chatting, but I’m still early in the game and haven’t a full team yet, I just like the art style it’s refreshing after playing copy book open world stuff.
