I had been watching twitch stream of Player Unknown Battlegrounds more commonly known as PUGB. Weren't sure if it was for me as it's a hardcore 1 life king of the hill style game. Finally gave in and bought it.
PUGB has a huge following and currently in early access. The game multiplayer and is played as a 3rd person or 1st person (new feature) it's a 100 players per server all with one goal to be the last 1 alive. You start the game in a C130 cargo plane along with all your opponents, the plane takes a random flight path across your playing area. You choose when you jump from the plane then free fall parachute into the play zone, which is a huge island with countryside and towns. You land with nothing but the clothes on your back so it's now you priority to loot buildings for guns armour and supplies. I usually drop away from other players to avoid an instant blood bath and usually for me a quick death.
After a short while the play area is constricted by means of a white circle and a larger blue outer circle, the blue circle draws into the boundary of the white circle, anyone outside the white circle starts to take damage from a poisonous gas and will eventually die unless they reach the inner white circle. As the circle is not revealed until everyone has landed you have no idea how far you will have to travel to relative safety. The process continues to tighten the play zone, so it gets smaller and smaller until you have a winner. You have a player count in the top corner with depletes as players meet their demise so you can track your progress.
I wasn't sure if I'd be asking steam for a refund due to the hardcore nature, however I've clocked up many hours in the short time I've had it, PUGB is proving to be quite an addictive game and one that I recommend.
Gunplay is spot on, some close quarters some at long ranges so you really have to think about whether you engage a target that has yet to see you, can you drop the target before they get to cover? Are there any others around you that will be able to locate you when you open fire.
Very easy to pick up due to its simplicity, tense but not as overwhelming to the newcomer as I was expecting. It's still early access , has an enthusiastic community and a development team planning game updates and new modes of play.
