As always I'm a little late to the party. I didn't get a beta pass, and only bought it on Wednesday.
I'm enjoying it, but not entirely convinced at the moment. It doesn't help that I'm also grinding on Borderlands 2 (Level 46 with a couple of long-arsed challenges to complete and Terramorphous before Platinum).
So after a couple of days play I'm level 5 and have just unlocked the multi0player section (I believe, though I haven't tried it yet).
Any top tips for the game? Should I be playing multi-player over the single-player game, or go through the campaign first? I'm not sure of the drop-in Playstation Home/DC Universe nature of it as I feel I'm ruining other peoples games, but I will just get used to that I'm sure.
Anyway, all tips gratefully received.
Edward

Hi Ed, Only do the crucible multiplayer if you want to it’s not required, but you do stand a chance of getting some good gear after a match with no regard to any skill. As soon as you get the ability to do bounties then do. Pick the ones you can manage like 6 patrol missions on Cosmodrome (Earth), do these as they can rack up the experience points fast. Level up your special ability as soon as you get an upgrade, it can make all the difference to combat and your jump ability that can become very handy for getting out of tricky situations. Also once you get green weapons/armour they can be levelled up too. Join in public events especially if there are other people about, as you wont be able to solo them at low levels, you can gain good rewards and xp from these. Don’t be afraid to run through story missions again to gain experience and also pick up the patrol missions in patrol mode (that’s the green symbol on the planet maps) they will help you rank up with your class Vanguard trader so you can buy better equipment later. Levels 1 to 20 is all about shooting stuff, once you hit lv 20 it becomes a different game. Lastly if your not in the clan get over to Bungie.net and sign up, some of us have lower ults and would be glad to group up and level together.

Working at home today, so for lunch I had an hour. Taking your advice I start a couple of bounty missions, and I finally get it, the whole drop in drop out nature. Although I was running around on my own, it was good feeling you were 'fighting the good fight' with others.
I have requested to join the clan, so hopefully I'll someday get some time online. The wife is away this weekend, so an early night for the kids I think!
Thanks,
Edward

I'm working from home today as well and played the Crucible, this lunchtime, for the first time since release and that's only for an Exotic Bounty. I actually quite enjoyed it. My wife is away for 3 weeks, working in Germany, so plenty more Destiny for me. Stick with it, however having mates you know (of sorts) and can talk to while playing can make a huge difference I reckon. It gets lonely otherwise. Add me as a friend on PSN and we can do some roaming together at some point. Stick with it! I haven't done anything else in my spare time since getting it

As Retro said, bounties and public events - this will also help build your vanguard reputation allowing you to buy legendary weapons and armour as soon as you hit level 20 - and believe me this makes all the difference. You'll need vanguard marks as currency to buy them which you will get from the public events also.
I think the best tip I can give though is about weaponry and armour - there may be many that have the same name but can be very different as may have different attributes, i.e. some armour will give you more ammo for certain guns or make it so they reload quicker - so pick which you're keeping very carefully so it ties in with your weaponry and make sure it suits your play style. You'll also notice that some enemies will have different coloured shields - these are elemental shields - blue for arc, purple for void and orange for solar. At lower levels these shields can be quite hard to take down unless you have the right weaponry - if you look at special and heavy weapons they have an elemental symbol n the side - match the colour of the shield to the colour of this symbol and it gives you bonus damage allowing you to take it down a lot easier.
Hope this helps.

Keepad if you need a hand getting marks to buy legendary armor which will level you above 20. Message me if I'm on. There is a website destinypublicevents.com that can show you where a public event is going to happening. You can move from area to area doing the public events to earn the marks plus you'll get ascendant materials as well as reputation. There quicker and easier to get marks than strikes.
