Gutted. Turned out on last night and got the flashing red light of not good.
I managed to get it working using the hairdryer trick, and backed it up overnight.
I now need to nip to Game and get a second hand one (£90). I still play it a lot, have loads in the pile of shame, and will be using it for the next couple of years at least.
Not happy, but have got all the save games so it isn't all bad.
While deleting the PSN+ games I have previously downloaded, there are so many I forgot I had which are meant to be excellent. My broadband will be punished later as I download them all again!

Damn bad luck mate, maybe try cash converters or cash generator if you have one near as they usually have cheap ones.

So I got the new *second hand* Super Slim 12Gb today after it was delivered to Game. I wander down at lunchtime to pick it up, rush back so install my old HDD from my now broken FAT PS3 to find the 12Gb doesn't come with a disk caddy! I hadn't realised it didn't come as standard so I wandered back to Game and had a moan, and luckily they had a batter boxed one in the back of the cupboard. However none of the staff thought to tell me this when I paid for it on Tuesday.
So I rush home again, install the disk, plug in the external disk with all my backups on, and the backup disk (perfect until now) starts making that horrible clicking noise, and the PS3 said it couldn't detect the disk! After a couple of tries and a bit of swearing it finally starts to restore and thankfully it worked.
The big annoyance now is downloading the 100's Gb of games that I have got from PSN+ in the last 6 years!
So, it will be Destiny tonight and hope the internet connection is fast enough with the downloading gong on in the background ....

Yeah, took a while but most transferred ok. My kids have had issues with little big planet not allowing them to get trophies as it said the save game came from a different profile, but they are enjoying going back and doing it again anyway. No idea why they aren't playing lbp 2,but at least it isn't minecraft!
The ps3 still gets a lot of use, so well worth getting a replacement.
Will be picking up borderlands the pre-sequel soon, which gives me single player action as and when psn goes down again!

I got borderlands 1 & 2 from psn+, and it is worth the money just for those 2 games. Was passing on them, but a mate suggested we did them co-op, and it has been to fun. We've had 3 of us playing them.
Top fun!
