Please tell me I’m not the only one that thinks Hollywood should cease and desist with their rebooting obsession. Is there really such a dearth of writing talent that they have to butcher classic films. Of course their excuse is they are “rebooting them for the new generation”. Who the hell are this new generation? Are we seriously supposed to believe that young people today are so dim that they can’t understand anything that’s more than twenty years old? Or is it just a convenient excuse for lazy producers looking for the next cash cow? Come on Hollywood please think of something original! O.K rant over!

I agree mate, too many reboots, and most of the time not as good as the original, Robocop being a good example.

But which is the worst remake of them all?
My vote goes to the 2002 remake of Rollerball. The fact that the makers thought Chris Klein a good replacement for James Caan tells you the level of incompetence behind the project.
On the flip side I thought this summer's Godzilla was pretty good, so I'm not sure I can agree all remakes are bad.

I have not seen Godzilla yet, I agree the new Rollerball was rubbish, there was no way it was going to beat the original.

Rollerball isn't just one of the worst remakes, it's one of the worst films of all time. And I've seen literally dozens of films.
Godzilla had decent fx, but if you've seen Cloverfield, Pacific Rim and even the Transformers films, it has nothing new and you just think 'I've seen this all before'. I reckon if they resurrected (sorry - rebooted) the Chewits dinosaur nowadays, he'd look just as good as Godzilla. When Godzilla and the other monsters aren't on screen, in other words when you have to look at the humans and listen to what they're saying, the film's abysmal tripe.
