The final sentence raises an interesting point: 'In the meantime, the developer will need to hope that this expansion, which should have reinvigorated the game as players grew bored of it, doesn't send them on their way instead.'
It nearly sent me on my way. Allowing you to upgrade your exotics is a good idea but it should have just added another tier by applying the exotic shard. To reset all perks too is pushing it, and whichever Bungie-ite thought of that is simply a twat. Add to that the fact that you can't upgrade legendary weapons at all, so they're now obsolete - still usable, sure, but they'll be dismantled as soon as (if) you get a next-gen purple, to level from scratch. And if the second DLC is indeed due in 3 months time - will Bungie do the same again? Will this DLC's new purples be out of date and will you have to reset your exotics again?
The new missions were pitifully short, and still managed to be tedious, so when they're the daily, I think I'll be skipping the daily. I took the disc out of the drive last week, for the second time since I bought it. I've bought another game. I'm still playing Destiny, but I'm happy just doing the grind with one of my characters instead of all three. I'll stick it on most days, but I'm as disinterested as ever in raiding, and I can see myself having a complete break before the second DLC. I'll get that because I've unwisely already bought it, but I hope Bungie make the next batch of content less annoying.
And you still can't skip those fucking cut scenes.

I'll get that because I've unwisely already bought it, but I hope Bungie make the next batch of content less annoying. I bought the dlc from the beginning, I couldn’t get enough of the alpha and then the beta, but after months of late nights going over and over the same daily’s/strikes and racing around to catch public events that don’t turn up, it dawned on me I was beating a dead horse, as perfect as the gun play is I was doing it for the sake of it, it wasn’t as if (raiding aside) there were areas that couldn’t be explored because the enemy were to strong, I could basically go anywhere solo but with a mate it was a breeze. And thank the creator I didn’t raid, boy would I have been pissed if I’d put the time in to reach 30 and then have a dlc come along and takes that honour away from me. I hope Destiny doesn’t sit on my hard drive unused, it has the beginnings of a great game, just right now I’d rather waste my time elsewhere.
