Deep space exploration game Elite Dangerous, already available on PC and Xbox One, will finally touch down on PlayStation 4 in Q2 2017, developer Frontier Games has announced. This new PS4 version will include touchpad controls to allow you to easily swipe through your Milky Way navigation and customise four "hotkeys" via the touchpad to quickly access features which tie into your play style. Motion controls using the DualShock 4's gyros will also be implemented to let you "fast headlook" around in the middle of combat. Finally, naturally, the game will get a performance boost on the beefier PlayStation 4 Pro. link

So, it finally comes out on Tuesday for the PS4. I backed the Kickstarter, getting a physical copy and stuff for £90 even though I didn't have a machine to play it on. I have bought it on the XBox One, but haven't got through the tutorials, but am very tempted on getting it on the PS4 as that is my main console.
Anyone else picking it up?

I got the Xbox so I could play it, but didn't get very far and just stopped playing after a while. There was nowt wrong with it - quite the opposite - so it may have just coincided with one of my 'gaming is stale' periods. I'll probably go back to it at some point - but on the Xbox, unless the PS4 one is significantly better, which I can't see happening.

Got my copy already for tomorrow. I know Iangooner has it too. The gyroscope headlook is interesting to use but takes a bit getting used to. The popup context menus are a neat idea too.
I don't want to put anybody off but it has a screen tearing issue on both ps4's but it plays smooth enough even on the vanilla ps4. They are aware of the issue. The game is currently being updated to 2.3.10 for release so you'll be playing the newest version as the other platforms.
This is the PS4 demo launch video.
P.s. Don't trust guys with beards lol

Had a go on it last night as the servers came on early. Its the same game experience as the PC version. Online works as it should with a few hiccups with disconnections but they'll be fixed asap. I had difficulty landing in the starter station as all the landing pads were taken. Everybody went online I guess as soon as they got the update. The framerate is up and down as its variable and seems worse when your online with other people around in your instance. This is on the standard PS4. I believe its not as bad on PS4 Pro from what I've read on the official frontier forums. Hopefully they can optimise it further. I have a stream of my first hour being uploaded to Youtube as I type.

on the pro, i haven't noticed any tearing or frame rate drops..... I have it on higher visuals rather than higher performance... I've mostly played solo as am trying to get some cash together...

I did a couple of training missions and managed to take off and dock without incident, all those hours playing on PC have paid off , it looks nice and was smooth as butter with no screen tearing. Will have more time Sunday to get into it but so far pretty impressed with the port.

Experience with the PC helps but the PS4 version is like a totally different game than the version you played before you stopped. Give me a message in game if you want to wing up. Theres a few bounty hunter community goals on right now for all the new players on PS4. Easy credits to start you off in the game.

Well I double dipped, it maybe that I’ve already climbed some of the learning curve or that I’m more at home with the DS4 (I’m liking how they have implemented the touch pad and motion controls) or that I’m now on a big telly (no more squinting to read the text), but so far my feelings towards this are more positive than they were when I tried it on Xbox.
