I know at lest one person here upgraded on launch, Can anyone pointed me in the direction to a suitable drive along with a how to guide. Will I loose anything I know I can backup saves to usb and the cloud, will it just be a case of re - downloading everything form psn and reinstalling from disk?

Well just your luck, I was looking for a bigger drive myself. Depending on how much you want to spend. Your best bet is a Seagate 1TB SSHD which I have, Hitachi 7K1000 1TB 7200rpm or Samsung M9T 2TB. Current prices on Amazon are £69.84, £48 and £99.99 respectively.
If the 2TB drive was available when I got my PS4 I would have gone for that as games require a lot of space now plus for updates and video recording. I've used up half of my 1TB space already with games and recordings.
Sony provide a guide here faq.en.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9549/p/0
You will need a USB flash drive to save the full system software found here uk.playstation.com/ps4initialise/
You should also back up your save game data to PS Plus or flash drive before your start and save any recordings you wish to keep.
Its a relatively easy upgrade if you can use a screw driver and know how to format and make folders on a flash drive. Should take no longer than half and hour including the system software loading.

Thanks mut, It's got to be a 2tb, the speed I've used up the 500gb is frightening, My pc has 500gb partitioned for steam and I've loads more games on there.

I guess there are a lot of PS4 owners having the same problem, I’ve got to the point where I’m having to delete something so I can install a new game, and it’s not just indie games I’m removing full games are now getting uninstalled as well.
Sony are going to have to start introducing PS4’s with bugger hard drives, MS have just announced a special COD bundle with a 1tb HD, Sony need to follow.

Was considering this before downloading destiny also, even with cack internet i seem to be downloading more and more and I'm already deleting games as well. 2TB seems like a good buy.

2TB good size, I have a 3TB external drive for my PC. Surprisingly it does get filled up pretty quick.. Samsung are a decent make too.

Drive went in a treat, I took my time and still the installation took under 5 minutes, once the new system software is installed you basically have to set up the ps4 again as it doesn't retain any of your settings, but once signed into psn its just a matter of reinstalling your games from your psn library, and then downloading the backed up saves.
Reinstallings not quick though, ive a 6mb download and it will probably take a couple of days before I've got it all back, and thats not counting disc installs.
But if your thinking of upgrading the drive id do it sooner than later, to save re installing those big titles that are on the way.
Oh forgot to say, load times are mutch the same, but the new drive is wisper quite compared to the stock one, not that it ever bothered me before but this one does seem quiter.

Great. I will get one too. Now you don't need to erase anything to install a new game well until you fill that one up too. :-)
