Controversial, I gave up reading Dan Brown once I realized everything he was writing had professor Tom Hanks as his central character, I preferred the pre-Langdon books, Deception Point should have been a film.

American Psycho. The film is better than the book, although a lot of the violence from the book is toned down or completely omitted. The book is so anal about the clothes and daily routines it was a chore reading those parts.

The Dark Knight, the best super hero film ever.Bale is perfect as Batman,Ledger is perfect as Joker. All of the support cast spot on,especially Eckhart a real quality actor and Gary Oldman is as always amazing.

and Gary Oldman is as always amazing. Everything pales in the shadow of the role of a lifetime ... I've just ordered the trilogy, including T2 - Anklebiters and T3 - Honey, We Had Shrunken Kids.

So far I've seen 6 of the 9 fillums that were nominated for best in the world at the Oscars. The Shape of Water winning over Three Billboards is just more proof that the Academy hasn't a fecking clue. In fact Dunkirk (which probably should have won from those nominations), Get Out and Ladybird are all significantly better. Darkest Hour is alright but take out Oldman and there would only be a pretty ordinary film left. Films like I Tonya, Blade Runner 2049 and Detroit are all easily better than The Shape of Water, which is basically 'Amelie meets the Creature from the Black Lagoon'. It's not a bad fillum, but best in the world? Pfft.

Three billboards was a good enjoyable film and not what I was expecting, great acting from Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell and the female lead.
I thought Sam Rockwell was particularity good.

Annihilation.
This is a new release on Netflix though it was made for cinema. If you likes yer sci-fi a bit head-scratchy instead of dumb I'd recommend it. I watched it last night and know I'll be watching it again. Proper creepy in places with a superb last half hour or so.
It was financed by Paramount, who showed it to a test audience who were too dumb for it. The studio then demanded changes including a different ending, and the producer and director (maker of Ex Machina) said 'fuck off'. So the studio said, 'no you fuck off, we'll sell it to Netflix instead'. Not for everyone of course, but then, what film is.

Murder on the Orient Express.
I really wish Branagh would stop thinking he is the best actor and director in the world. He is not.Henry V was brilliant, now just go and fuck off.

I saw it on the big screen, was looking forward to it as enjoyed the previous one, but I was left wishing I'd paid my cash for Jumanji insted, witch btw I did see a few weeks later and thought it was brilliant.
