Found a lovely big multi-platformed landing pad/trade station, with ships landing quite often. Saw a lovely one with much improved inventory space but the fat Gek's asking price was too high. I'm going to grind to get enough to buy his ship... now all I have to do is remember where the feck the station was.

You have kinda confirmed what I was thinking.. that you can’t place markers on the map, I found a nice base (not as grand as yours though) while on foot but couldn’t activate some areas without a keycard thingy that can be crafted, I had all the mats I needed on the ship but was too far away to transfer, so I walked in a straight line back to the ship, then flu back in the direction I thought I had come from… only to find a completely different base, cant complain though as I got a really nice upgrade on my multi tool. It’s a very clever game, I’m still on my starter planet, TeenGeezZer got his hands on the disc before I got home, his planet is very different with a lot more wildlife but it's very baron and low temperatures, while mine is very tropical and quite comfy I’m thinking of moving in permanently, stuff the other quintillion.

I think luck of the draw comes into play for starter planets. My second (post-patch) was much less hostile so suit top-ups were less of a pain. I assumed this was because of the patch but I'm not so sure. And as for finding places again, I'll be looking at that next chance I get. Everything you discover is stored in your log so I'll be dumbfounded if there isn't some sort of option to just fly back there, or mark it in some way. I'm parked in a space station just above the moon it was on, so I expect to find it. Of course, the fat Gek with the nice ship might never turn up again, but it was a busy port so I'm sure I'll have plenty choice.
Predictably, idiot trolls who either have or haven't played the game are giving it ridiculously low scores wherever they can.

Now I have it in my hands I couldn’t care less about the trolls, I'd just like it to do well enough to keep the updated coming, It reminds me of the early days of the original Minecraft on PC when everyone was playing a beta, unfortunately it's now been fiddled with and updated so much Minecraft game play is barely recognisable compared to those simpler days, NMS real home is probably going to be PC where updated will flow easier and the modding community will hold it to their bosom, TeenGeezZer will be getting it on PC so it’s going to be interesting to see how to two grow.

I'm not keen on this modding lark. Bloody PC gamers are never happy.

Well, Sony have spent some money on an ad campaign. Not a lot, because it's Bill Bailey, but it's a start:

That's a funny ad lol.
I've seen lots of ship designs. I wonder if they are procedural as well. When I see one I like I'm pissed you can't buy it because it's friggin 1 million units. I will have to work overtime to get it lol.
Retro - You can actually mark buildings as way points with the L2 binoculars and you'll see a circle on your radar. This is useful if you want to find a place again that has stuff you want but you have to go to get materials to craft it or buy it. You can also fly up to a space station and go back down to the place you were at, with this marker you will be able to find it again.
Apparently somebody has done the impossible and met each other in the game well sort of. They couldn't see each other though. Possibly because they were not in the same instance as each other or maybe that isn't in the game yet.

I was under the impression that everything is procedural - planets, creatures, all craft, even most of the music - apart from the menu screens and the alien races.

On nice thanks Baha I'll give the way points a try tonight, did you know you can feed some of the animals? they then have a happy icon above them and show you something to mine. My son showed me and I was like how'd you figure that out already!

As for the add, I vote Bill Bailey to be the next Games Master, providing Dominik Diamond is send down a black hole.

Yes some of those critters are cute when you feed them but some are hostile too. I've not been killed by one yet though. Scan all the species on a single planet with your bino's and you will get a big bonus of units.
Another tip to increase your exosuits inventory size, because you can never have enough space. Find a signal scanner beacon. They look like orange lasers pointing up to the sky. They will give you points of interest to go to. Choose shelter and it can sometimes point to a drop pod which contains the suit upgrade. You can also find crashed ships and strange shrines this way.

Did you get a preorder starter ship Keith? If you did it should have a hyperdrive already? Repair your multi-tool scanner and binoculars. Mine everything you come across in the early stages so you know what elements come from. Especially get carbon, plutonium, heridium, zinc, and iron. Have fun

Couple of handy things I've just discovered:
When in scanner zoom (L2) pressing right stick gives more levels of zoom. Much handy!
Also, triangle button switches between multi-tool laser modes (oops, that one's given away on the controls screen)
Up on the d-pad when on foot activates a torch.

Well I spent about four hours last night pottering around on my first planet mining ect and collecting new words, then went up into space and started the tutorial quest line, I had the pre-order ship yes but then also found the blueprint for the hyper-drive on the tutorial, apparently there is a bug that involves the pre-order ship and not getting the hyperdrive blueprints meaning your stuck, I think I am fine though, next step is the warp cell.
Thanks for your help last night Bahamut, loving it so far and certainly not a disappointment.
Pig, thanks for the scanner tip I was wondering if there was a zoom or if you had to upgrade the googles to get it.
