Don't see why not - racism never goes out of fashion. But if they did reboot it today, Tom Robinson would probably be gay, the jury all homophobes, and it would have to be directed by a black one-eyed lesbian in a wheelchair.

I was thinking more that a woman was shown to be lying about being raped. I dare say there are plenty of classics that wouldn't pass the pc sensor today, even ones that at the time were considered progressive.

Full Metal Jacket. I'd forgotten how funny Sergeant Ermey was - he's absolute comedy gold.
Also just watched The Pacific. I gave up after one episode when it was first out, but was talked into giving it another go. Glad I did, it's an excellent series that doesn't hold back on the 'war is hell' thing.
The Vietnam War - doc series on Netflix, I'm a couple of episodes in and it's grand stuff. I'm learning all the time; I never knew it was the French that started it.
Paddington 2.... which I would heartily recommend.

Bit harsh on the Pacific. I know, like me, you looked at it on release and weren't too impressed. I wasn't at the time, the first ep just didn't grab me so I left it. It's damn good though - not perhaps as great as Band of Brothers, but I wouldn't condemn it for that. The combat scenes are better than BoB's*, they are really up there with the carnage in Shaving Ryan's Privates.
* - possibly, since I haven't watch BoB in ages. I might give it another spin when I finish the Vietnam doc.

Love sergeant Ermey. The films a bit shit after he's out of it though. Using a derelict site in England with a few palm trees stuck in it doesn't help. Could never take it seriously with that backdrop.
I'll have to have a look at the Vietnam thing.
Paddington 2. I'll give it a miss thanks.

I'm hooked on the Vietnam thing. Only up to episode 4 but I'm trying to watch full episodes and they're bloody long.

I've just got one to go. I've realised I knew absolutely nothing about it.

I may give it a watch, when I have finished Game of Thrones again,it is so much more coherent when watched in a binge sitting.

I used to sub Now TV whenever the new season was out, but their streaming quality was shit so I just bought the discs. It's not perfect, Ace, but it's grand stuff on the whole. Some shit acting, but on a cast that big that's bound to happen occasionally. It's easy to find if you want to watch it.
