I have weaned myself off Destiny, having played for far too many hours, and I haven't played the latest DLC at all (well, 1 mission). I'm not really that interested in picking it up again either as it may be the gateway back to playing constantly again.
However at the same time, I don't want to be missing out and I also loved the multiplayer and social aspect form the original.
Not sure whether to get it or not. How many people are? Will there be multiple parties a night playing?
I need to decide soon!

There are quite a few of us still playing and will still be as most have preordered TTK. You can be assured there is always a bunch of us online every night!

There is at least 1 party chat every day. Often there are two. Odds are when TTK releases it will be close to 3 chats.

I fired Destiny up last night to see what all the fuss is about with the new update (not got any expansions) and spent a couple of hours just killing stuff on earth and gained two levels off the bat now lvl 24, what is the best way to level up now the whole light thing has been changed, keep on doing what I am doing?? I don't have time atm to participate in raids of an evening just to play as and when I can, I did enjoy getting back in to it though

I had no plans for TTK but might consider it a) when it's cheaper and b) if interest in ESO wanes and c) if there's enough new content. I don't consider a revision of the levelling system new content - that's just paying Bungie twice to get it right once - so I want to know exactly what there is that's new. Not better armour and guns - but new areas, places to go, that sort of thing. The fact that you seem to be able to get from level 34 to 40 in an afternoon isn't encouraging. If a lot of new content is Crucible, which to be fair I would expect it to be, that's just new content I'm not interested in. I still haven't forgiven Bungie for forcing matchmaking on to heroic strikes. If TTK is mainly burn-through to level 40 then do endless nighfalls and raids to max out gear, I think I'll be happy leaving it alone.

Think it may have missed the boat with me, I still have the copy but really lost interest when the light shite started up coupled with too many games to play it's now gathering dust.

I’ve a slot free and still haven’t played a hunter yet one outside of beta so tempted to start afresh, but I’ve not paid the Taken King any attention, I know about the light system being dropped but is there anything outside of pvp of interest, new planet’s an extension to the so called story containing new higher level quests etc.. ?

Light hasn't been dropped - you level with xp now, but your gear needs light to be of any use. I think that's it, anyway.

Aye I’ve had a poke around to find out what you get and it’s not much for the casual player like myself, might still get a hunter going but the new stuff will have to wait for a price drop.

it was fun getting my titan back in the game, just kicking ass around the cosmodrome was a blast even though my aim was well off it has piqued my interest again the fact I gained two levels in two hours was a bonus, not sure if that is normal until lvl 40 though??, but not enough to shell out £40.00 for TTK, might get one of the earlier ones though if they are good value ( might even drop in price now as well as I assume you need them to play TTK??)

I assume you need them to play TTK?? Your assumption is correct.

Typical money grabbing game developers, not only is the new DLC the price of a full game but it does not even include the old DLC or the ability to play without it

I got destiny and the three expansions from simply games for £36.99 and traded my original copy for £10 so it worked out a good deal for me. So far it's fun I just need to group up with a fire team for more fun but I can see it being the same old grind after a while.

Typical money grabbing game developers, not only is the new DLC the price of a full game but it does not even include the old DLC or the ability to play without it If you buy TTK legendary edition (I got mine on offer for £34.85 - but you can get for £36.85 or less), you get the base game, both the year 1dlcs, and TTK expansion. It is currently still cheaper to buy the full TTK legendary edition than to buy just TTK expansion.
